New Service!

Sue Williams House, Expect’s new service on Balliol Road, opened officially on 12 December when Service Users from Hawthorne Road moved in for the first time. The house has been recently renovated by One Vision Housing and now looks stunning.  It is arranged on 4 levels and has accommodation for up to six service users and one member of staff; all bedrooms have en-suite  facilities. There’s also plenty of space for Service Users to sit with a large modern kitchen, dining room, sitting area and a downstairs lounge.

Staff are now busy settling Service Users in and making sure  management systems are in place.

Ann Mockler said, “The house is beautiful, now we just need to make it a home, we should call it, ‘Sue Williams Home.’”  Ann went on to say, “We have great plans for the service.  There is a fantastic back garden with a massive lawn and patio.  We will be holding plenty of BBQ’s in the summer and will be inviting Service Users and their families to join us.  We also intend to make sure there are plenty of activities such as bingo and other fun games.  But for now we need to concentrate on making sure we fill the vacant beds and continue to personalise the rooms with furniture for service users to enjoy.”

Potential plans for the large basement area  include turning it into a games room complete with a pool table.

The service also boasts a large utility room with a sink, washing and drying facilities.  There is also wheelchair friendly access to the basement area via a built in lift.

Sue Williams house overlooks  Kings Park and has easy access to bus stops, local shops and Hugh Baird College.

Service users who have already moved in said they were very happy with their new home and were looking forward to having their first Christmas there.  Staff have already made plans for a big Christmas tree to take pride of place in the dining room.
