Bowersdale Resource Centre (BRC) June Update!

We are so pleased to announce that we have booked our residential trip away for service users after successfully raising an amazing £2300 from our bingo events. We have booked to go to Tiffany’s Hotel in Blackpool from the 8th September to the 10th. Each service user will receive a buffet style breakfast each morning, as well as a 3 course evening meal. The hotel also has some of the best cabaret and musical tribute shows each evening along with bingo. Service users will be free to explore Blackpool independently if they wish as there is so much to do. We are all very excited!

In addition, we have planned to take service users who will not be attending the weekend trip to Blackpool on a day trip somewhere towards the end of summer which will be funded for by the BRC. This is so we can make sure everyone gets the opportunity to enjoy a trip with friends and make important and meaningful memories.  We would love to be able to take every one of our members on the weekend trip, but not everyone is able to do a weekend away due to their individual needs and funding raised. We have ensured everyone is happy and feel included with the plans.

We would like to say one last thank you to all who have made our exciting trip possible by donating prizes, attending our fundraisers and volunteering time to help us.

Tuesday 13th June was our most recent service user meeting at the BRC. The majority of the meeting was covering all grounds of our Blackpool weekend trip and the day trip, however more exciting news was discussed. The BRC will be trialling a 6 week period of opening on a Saturday from 10am -1pm to do a specific activity with service users. This was following a number of service users expressing interest in attending on a weekend. We are able to do so providing we have a reasonable group size attending the sessions each week and carrying out a particular activity.  After consultation with service users, this 6 week period will be for cooking and baking. Our first session will be Saturday 1st of July.

During the meeting service users were also informed we will be visited by Sefton in Bloom on the 13th July. This is a competition the BRC has entered which judges and merits gardens and greenspace in the Borough of Sefton with bronze, silver or gold awards. Service users have been working hard on our greenspace for many months now after keenly delving into the world of gardening and it is looking fantastic with all its colour and botany. We have a few extra touches to make before we are visited by Sefton in Bloom and we feel we have a good chance at receiving an award. However even if not, we are still extremely proud of our garden and hard work. We would like to give a huge thank you to Exterior Cleaning Liverpool, who professionally power washed our front patio and car park area at the front of the building, for free of charge. This was extremely kind and we are so grateful for your generosity. This has definitely improved the appearance of our garden and compliments all of our beautiful flowers and plants. We would highly recommend Exterior Cleaning Liverpool to anyone in need of any exterior cleaning.

Back by popular demand we are starting our end of month discos again! These will however be every quarter rather than every month. Our first disco will return on Friday 30th June which coincides with one of our longstanding and much loved service users 72nd Birthday. Service users can attend for free and enjoy singing, dancing and refreshments.
